Romeo and Juliet.

Our parents were against it
To us that meant yes and fast
Different coloured skin our sin
In love safety comes last
Evening spread like a promise
Streets sheets of rain
Skidded to the bottle shop
Fluorescents all ablaze
Grabbed six packs like looters
Your mum's car our ride
Asked for ID we did a runner
Burning rubber into the night
Headlights collided in rear view
Hearts pounding double time
We glimpsed life at the edges
Where being young isn't a crime
Slid the Camry to Lee Point
Ran like cats into the dunes
Drank and stargazed for hours
Dancing to our own inner tunes
We were meant to be together
Here where our heads grow quiet
Lets get messed up baby
And start a teenage riot
